Personalized Footwear with the Virtual Twin
Danish shoe manufacturer and retailer ECCO offers personalized, custom-made shoes. Engineers developed a unique MODSIM approach for use in their retail stores in order to deliver custom shoes in just two hours. After a selecting a style, the customer's feet are scanned. Using CATIA modeling software the scan becomes a 3D virtual twin with the exact measurements. MODSIM, integrated modeling and simulation, produces a custom midsole design for the shoe style chosen that has optimized for fit, form and performance.
